The story follows Miles Morales, a young Spider-Man, as he explores the concept of alternate dimensions. As he runs through the old streets of Down Street, he stumbles upon a mysterious room labeled "Earth 36". Inside the room, he finds a box containing a concept gear. Curious, Miles decides to put on the gear.
With the concept gear activated, Miles is transported to Earth 36, a dimension unlike his own. Here, he encounters new challenges and adventures, as well as alternate versions of familiar faces. As Miles navigates this unfamiliar world, he discovers hidden truths about himself and the multiverse.
